The Alchemy of
Sovereignty
Moving from Sacrifice to Strength
This workshop is designed for those who have been told they are “too much” while being treated as “not enough.” It is a roadmap for moving from the Extracted Sacrafice State (the Goat) to the Sovereign State (the Lion).
Identifying the Extraction
Moving from Sacrifice to Strength
Before you can become “stronger,” you must identify where your power is leaking.
“`The Two Columns
Take a piece of paper and draw two columns.
Column A (The Take): List the things people praise you for (e.g., “You’re such a good listener,” “You always handle the hard work,” “You’re so reliable.” ).
Column B (The Trade): Next to each item, list what you get in return from those people. Is it mutual respect, or is it just more demands?
Imagine you are a battery that powers a city. The citizens tell you that you are “The Greatest Source of Energy,” but they never offer to recharge you. In fact, they tell you that wanting a recharge is “selfish” and you should “know your place” as a power source.
If the battery decides to turn off the power for 24 hours, or maybe another 90 days does the city collapse, or does it finally learn to build its own generators? What happens to you during those 24 hours of silence?
Deconstructing the “Station”
People use the word “station” or “place” to keep you predictable. If you are predictable, you are controllable.
“`You are in a room with a ceiling painted to look like the sky. Everyone around you insists it is the sky and tells you to stop looking for a ladder.
Is your “depth” a burden, or is it simply the fact that you’re the only one who noticed the paint is peeling? How does your perspective change if you realize the “station” they gave you is just a room with no windows?
The Lion’s Boundary
Transitioning from “strong” to “stronger” requires the implementation of Friction.
“`10% Friction
Identify an area where you are being “extracted.” This week, introduce 10% friction. If you usually say “yes” immediately, wait a few hours. If you usually do the work of three people, do the work of one.
Observation: Watch the reaction. Do they offer help (Support), or do they get angry with expectations AKA (Extraction)?
A lion does not explain its hunger to the hyenas. It does not argue about its right to roam. It simply occupies its space.
If you stopped explaining why you need boundaries and simply started enforcing them, who in your life would disappear first? (Hint: Those are the people who were only there for the sacrifice.)
Building The New You
Now that the extraction has slowed, you have a “surplus” of energy. This is where you become stronger.
“`What is one “deep thought” or project you’ve suppressed because others called it “too much”? Commit 30 minutes a day to it in total secrecy.
If you weren’t “useful” to the people around you, who would you be? Write down three qualities you have that have nothing to do with labor or helping others.
Whether literal or metaphorical (health, skills, savings), what is one thing you can build today that belongs only to you and cannot be “extracted”?
Imagine your life was once an open field where anyone could walk in, harvest your crops, and tell you to move out of the way. Today, you start building the first wall of the fortress. It doesn’t mean you’re “mean” or “cold” — it means there is now a gate, and you are the only one with the key.
Who is the first person you are going to stop letting into your “field”
Repeat this phrase when you feel the pressure to shrink. You are not a commodity to be traded; you are a force to be reckoned with. The workshop doesn’t end when the page closes — it begins the next time someone asks you to step back into the cage.
Now that the Lion is awake, what is the very first thing you are going to hunt for yourself?
